1. What are Cookies

On the other hand, profiling cookies or other tracking tools can only be used if the user has expressed their consent after being informed through simplified procedures.

Which cookies does this website use?
This website uses exclusively necessary technical cookies (for the correct functioning of the web pages) and first-party analytics cookies (used directly by the Controller for optimization and aggregate statistics, without any profiling, cross-domain tracking, or disclosure to third parties). Therefore, the latter are assimilated to technical cookies and would not legally require users' prior consent. However, to guarantee the highest level of control and transparency, the Controller has chosen to offer the possibility to enable or disable analytics anyway through the preferences banner.

Cookie coding criteria: All first-party tracking tools used by this website are identifiable by the prefix aiewt- in their name, allowing them to be easily distinguished:

Technical tools that store user choices contain the term -consent- (e.g., aiewt-consent-v2);
Statistical analysis tools contain the term -analytics- (e.g., aiewt-analytics-session-v2);
The website does not under any circumstances use cookies or tracking tools for profiling or marketing purposes.

Temporary technical session, authentication, and security cookies used exclusively by authorized administrators to access and manage the private administrative panel are excluded from the coding criteria and consent requirements (these are not installed on standard visitors' devices).

3. Third-Party Resources and Services

To optimize performance and content loading, this website loads some external assets:

Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited): Used to load typographic fonts. In requesting these fonts, Google receives technical details such as your IP address. Read the Google Privacy Policy for more details.
IPWHOIS.IO: Only after analytics consent, the server queries IPWHOIS.IO over HTTPS to obtain an approximate geographic area and network provider from the IP address. No credentials are used, and the website stores only minimized, pseudonymized data. See the IPWHOIS.IO Privacy Policy.

4. Purpose of Statistical Analysis

Data will be used to perform statistical and aggregate analysis, without any effect on the individual data subject.

Legal Basis: Legitimate interest to perform aggregate analysis to plan the business strategy in function of the target market.
Retention Period: Six months. These are non-identifiable data; no data exactly identifies the user (e.g., the complete IP address is not stored).

Providing data for statistical analysis is entirely optional. To prevent this processing, simply click the "Reject" button in the cookie banner or disable it via the "Cookie preferences" button in the footer of this page.

5. Place of Data Processing

Is data transferred outside the EU?

The website is hosted in Italy. Only after analytics consent, the IP address is sent over HTTPS to IPWHOIS.IO for approximate geolocation; according to the provider's policy, data may be processed on servers located in different countries. The website does not retain the complete IP address.

The Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante) (see decision of 8 May 2014 and Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools of 10 June 2021) has however specified that analytics cookies can be assimilated to technical cookies if used directly by the site owner for site optimization purposes, collecting aggregate statistical information on the number of users and how they visit the site.

If, instead, the processing of such statistical analysis is entrusted to third parties, user data must be minimized beforehand and cannot be combined with other processing or transmitted to further third parties. Under these conditions, the same rules provided for technical cookies apply to analytics cookies in terms of disclosure and consent.

As an exception, it is allowed both for the first party who provides it on their own and for the third party acting on behalf of the first party, to produce statistics with data relating to multiple domains, websites, or apps attributable to the same owner or corporate group (the data of this website is not transferred to third parties).

6. Subjects who may access the data

The collected data is not disseminated or used for marketing. Apart from the technical request to IPWHOIS.IO described above, it may be disclosed only to the following subjects:

Authorized persons: Access to data is allowed to personnel authorized by the Data Controller (administrative staff, collaborators, and teachers of the PRIN 2022 AI-EWT project) who must access them for the statistical analysis and website management purposes indicated above.

7. Rights of the Data Subject

What are your rights as a data subject?

The GDPR grants you the following rights in relation to your personal data, which you may exercise within the limits and in accordance with the regulations:

Right of access to your personal data (art. 15);
Right to rectification (art. 16);
Right to erasure (right to be forgotten) (art. 17);
Right to restriction of processing (art. 18);
Right to data portability (art. 20);
Right to object (art. 21): you have the right to object at any time, for reasons related to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you based on legitimate interest, including any profiling based thereon. The Controller refrains from processing unless they demonstrate the existence of compelling legitimate grounds to proceed with the processing that override the interests, rights, and freedoms of the data subject, or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims;
Right to object to a decision based solely on automated processing (art. 22);
Right to withdraw, at any time, the consent given, without affecting the lawfulness of the processing based on the consent given prior to withdrawal.

Furthermore, you always have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority (art. 77 GDPR), contactable at garante@gpdp.it or via the website www.gpdp.it, or to seek judicial remedy (art. 79 GDPR).

Note on the exercise of rights (Erasure and Access): Since the collected browsing data is processed in a pseudonymized and aggregate form without direct identifiers (such as complete IP addresses, names, or emails), the Controller is not able to link the stored records to a specific user. Pursuant to Art. 11, paragraph 2 of the GDPR, the exercise of the rights under Articles 15 to 20 is therefore not possible unless the data subject provides additional information that allows their unique identification (for example, by providing the random session identifier aiewt-analytics-session-v2 stored in their browser during the browsing session).
